Wow, that first issue smell again.
It’s been a little while since I’ve published an e-zine. For those of you who don’t know I once ran a one-man operation called 13Human Souls: Horror E-zine, which enjoyed a year of success before circumstances stepped in and forced me to let it go. I never gave up the ideals at the core of that first publication, which was a desire to help bring more exposure to existing talents in fiction and to give a start to the careers of new talents. It’s what lays at the heart of the whole #SupportTheLittleGuy campaign.
STLG Zine is a pure 4theluv publication and we’re not ashamed of it. We shouldn’t be.
The first issue launches with an all female line-up of authors giving the readers a mix of flavors with just enough darkness to fit the Halloween timing. Amy Grech’s “Damp Wind and Leaves” adds some romance to the spookiest night of the year. Sheri White’s “Spider Bites” should make your skin crawl. And I want everyone to congratulate Sarah Hendrix because her dark fantasy tale “Tasting Humanity” is her publishing debut.
We also have reviews, but we do them a bit differently here at STLG Zine. Whereas most magazines review novels and anthologies, we focus on the short stories found as free content on author’s and publisher’s sites. These stories are often forgotten, though they can be our first introductions to a favorite author and we believe it is as important for an author to hear what people think of their shorter works.
In case you haven’t checked out our Contests page yet, here’s a reminder to do so. We’re running a special Comments Contest between now and February 28th, 2011 to win a few autographed books. Make sure to stop by there and find out the details.
That’s it until our next issue in December.
Enjoy and Happy Halloween!
